Is it true that violent games will take away my sense of reality?

I have already asked a question like this but i chose a bad answer. my parents believe that playing games like cod and battlefield bad company 2 will take away my sense of reality. i believe that this is a bunch of bs. one, the studies that have been conducted about video game violence will make your kid violent, are all a bunch of bs. i am 13 and have benn playing games like halo, cod and other shooters since i was very young and i am in an honors math class and still get high grades. i have no mental problems and am not an an angry or violent person. i have been stuck playing reach for 4 months now and none of my friends (both real life and xbox friends) play it. i am stuck because my parents are not doing the right things when their son is turning a teenager. please help!
